Americans just have no concept of harm reduction. Current gun laws make it EASY for an unstable person to cause a HIGH NUMBER OF CASUALTIES AND FATALITIES. 1. A really determined person would get a gun regardless of gun laws. Yes. True. But not everyone is really determined. When we make gun violence LESS EASY, we also make mass shootings LESS LIKELY. Not none, but FEWER. 2. Guns dont kill people, people kill people. Yes. True. But a gun is uniquely efficient and effective at causing catastrophic injury and death. Knives are LESS EFFICIENT. Knives, bats, fists, bows and arrows are EASIER TO DEFEND AGAINST. Even bombs, because they are are harder to build and use, are LESS EFFECTIVE. Not no deaths, but FEWER. Not no injuries, but LESS SEVERE ones. It is naive to claim, as some do, that gun control would prevent mass shootings. Its easy for gun nuts to debunk. It makes them feel clever. Stop having that argument. Too many well-intentioned Americans (hell, on both sides even) fall into the all or nothing trap and because all isnt possible, give up and do nothing. Stop doing that. No, it isnt reasonable to try to eliminate all violent attacks. It is very reasonable to make them LESS COMMON and LESS TRAGIC by making them MORE DIFFICULT. Harm reduction. Is a thing. It works. Most of the rest of the world is already doing it successfully. If youre heartsick and sick of being heartsick and you want change, do that. #Marysville
