Amex made a mistake and canceled my card. I spent over 4 hours on - TopicsExpress

Amex made a mistake and canceled my card. I spent over 4 hours on the phone to get it reinstated, but no one has helped me. What I found out was shocking!!! They told me two different stories. The first story was that I called and cancelled my own card (they could not pull the recorded voice). The second story told was that they could not identify who I was, and, therefore, they cancelled my card. They also said they called me once during July 28, 2014, to try to verify my identity. I was out of the country (AMEX was aware of this -- I had called in to let them know I was out of the country). I was shocked to realize that it took them 6 months after I opened my credit card to try confirm my identity. Moreover, if they were concerned about my identity, why not call me multiples times to resolve the issues? The conversation with AMEX got so ridiculous that my friend (who is a lawyer) called himself a few times and identified himself as my lawyer. We still got the most horrible customer service. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THIS WILL AFFECT MY CREDIT SCORE AND I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BUY A HOUSE. These are the options given to me by AMEX... Open a new card. (I will lose all my points and have to risk a credit score impact due to another credit report hard inquiry); or Do nothing and allow Amex to report that the credit card was closed by my request (and yet, still have a credit report vulnerability because of the suspicious nature of such an action on such a new card). ALL I WANT IS MY CARD REINSTATED. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF BUYING A HOUSE. THIS WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO DO SO. I AM ALREADY MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONAL EXHAUSTED AND THIS IS MY LAST RESOURCE
