Amidst the noise of the army of talking heads, whether on the shoulders of the politicians or journalists duly incorporated, we might have easily missed the supreme irony of the Ukrainian crisis: the US threatened Russia with a conflict over a willful decision of a communist dictator, Nikita Khrushchev, who signed away arbitrarily--by fiat--Crimea to Ukraine even though Crimea had been Russian and never belonged to Ukraine as such. It was the same Khruschchev who was banging with his shoe in the UN threatening to dig capitalism in (bury it, as closer to Marxs spirit, the Western press rendered it). The tenacious attachment to Khrushchevs foolish fiat by the US would make one almost believe that it is the specter of Khrushchev that has to occupy the Oval Office in Washington D.C. these days. And thats not all. On top of that (yes, Obama can do still worse), the US (as John Kerry told Lavrov) is doing its best to make Ukrainian fascists the new mainstream as fa as the US, the EU and NATO are concerned. So if after the Vietnam War the very same John Kerry was asking how does one make someone die for a mistake, we may justifiably ask today in relation to the White House: Do you really want to start a war or to make your Ukrainian thugs in Kiev kill people for a farce?
