Amilee Stuckey Kalapp Melvin Lee Timothy Shea MY MIND HAS WANDERED OFF AGAIN. If you find it, would you give it bus fare and send it home? I cant help but wonder if the youth of our nation are being told what they want to hear, what they think they want to hear or maybe what others think they want to hear. I remember what a rebel kid I was when I was a teenager, before I left the house and had to start fending for myself. I had it made! I lived in an upper middle class household and we didn’t want for anything. Life was good. Then dad died and I barely made it out of high school. Reality hit me like a 2 x 4 right between the eyes. Holding down a job, paying rent, utilities, buying my own food, clothing, vehicle, gas... You know, being responsible. I really didnt have an alternative. Mom was working a minimum wage job and going to school, so money was tight. I separated myself from all my old radical friends who were still hanging around their houses, sucking off their moms and dads but resentful towards them at the same time, thinking of their parents as being power hungry, controlling tyrants. I mean, we were eighteen now, right? We could by God do whatever we wanted, and heres mom and dad telling me Ive got a curfew? HELL no! My friends didn’t know how good they had it. Idiots. Some of them went off to college and began to hear about Communism and Socialism as being a share-all government where “The Man” didn’t hold anyone back and passed around the wealth like it was candy, and everyone was the same and no one was any better than anyone else. Supposedly, no one would be in control of anyone, and we could all do as we pleased, as long as we did no harm to anyone. College professors painted Communism as a Utopia of sorts. They covered up Lenins and Stalin’s atrocities and when confronted with the truth, excused these two monsters as men whom power had made mad, and they both just weren’t smart enough to make it work. It could work and it should work, and if the kids would only listen to the professors, they would tell them how to make it work. I think young people these days are still being fed this same crap, and a lot of them are buying into it. They don’t want a boss who decides when they have to show up for work and how much money they make. They don’t want to work hard to get merit raises. They want raises to be given out to everyone along with any increased cost of living. They don’t want car payments or mortgages, or to have to pay for insurance or even food and clothing. They think they’re entitled to those things because they live in America, and all the money should be pooled together and divided up equally among the citizenry. They have no idea that they would be forced to work, and the people forcing them would be the very people they’re rebelling against, and their insurrection would give the government and the police absolute power. They have no concept of Martial Law. They can’t wrap their brains around the idea that no one would live in nice homes any more, that instead we’d all be crammed into government housing. Then we’d all be handed food allotments monthly and be expected to take mass transit everywhere. Only the Uber-rich would survive in this scenario in any kind of life that we would presently recognize. Rich people and the government, the same people these misguided fools are railing against. Wealthy people aren’t going away. They have money for a reason. They know how to get it, and more importantly perhaps, they know how to keep it. That won’t change, no matter what these liberal progressives think they can accomplish by rioting and demonstrating. It’s a pipe dream, and it’s not new. It’s all been done before. In the 60’s, we thought we could change the world. Instead, we grew up, got sober and faced our responsibilities. If you want to live in a free country like America, you better face the fact that it’s going to take work and effort. Otherwise, be prepared to change the name to Amerika. The sooner these young fools realize that, the better for them and the rest of us.
