Amir Khan plans 2015 showdown with Manny Pacquiao - if Floyd Mayweather turns him down By Gareth A Davis Briton determined to set up a super-fight in 2015 - and claims he and Pacquiao could donate percentage of purse to charity Amir Khan says he will pursue a showdown with Manny Pacquiao if unbeaten world champion Floyd Mayweather Jnr refuses to fight him this year. Khan is pursuing a fight with Mayweather Jnr, boxing’s No 1 box office attraction, in 2015, but Khan versus Pacquiao would be another huge event. Khan, an ambassador for OXFAM who has set up his own charitable foundation, has also told Telegraph Sport that he and Pacquiao could donate a percentage of the purse to good causes if a fight can be arranged. The Briton recently visited the site of the atrocities in Peshawar where 132 children at a school were massacred by militants and he wants to use his status for greater social good. Pacquiao has also repeatedly said he wants to tackle poverty in the Philippines, as the incumbent congressman for Sarangani Province. There is still no confirmation on whether Mayweather Jnr will fight Khan – or indeed Pacquiao - in what would be one of the year’s biggest projected fights. ADVERTISEMENT The making of a Mayweather-Pacquiao blockbuster, which could gross $250 million (£165 million), has been an on-off affair for four years, riddled with contractual politics, egos, rival promoters and television companies. But Khan now has designs on his own super-fight. He told Telegraph Sport: “If Floyd Mayweather doesn’t want to fight me this year, Pacquiao and I could fight – we could get it on in the USA, in the UK, in Dubai, or even Macau, where he fights once a year. “And perhaps if the fight between me and Pacquiao takes place, we could do something for the better, and show what boxing can do for the world. “Manny and I both do things for other people outside boxing and if we fought we could give a percentage of the purse to charities. Im not a politician like him but I want to do good works with my status.” Khan added: “Many experts think Mayweather is scared of me. Lets see. The main fight I want is the Mayweather one, but Im not going to let the waiting get to me. “Mayweather will fight me or Pacquiao (this year). He knows the fight between me and him will make a lot of money. But Im not going to let it get to me this time. I let it get to me last time. Who else is there for him? Unless he does rematches, theres nobody else. If Mayweather doesnt want it, and he doesnt want to fight Pacquiao, I think me and Pacquiao would be a huge fight. Despite having had the same trainer, and having sparred each other before, we could put that friendship to one side.
