Amnesty Int’l calls on JKLF Chief, discuss HR situation in Valley We have good hopes on this org: Malik Srinagar, Sep 3: (GNS) Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik Tuesday met a delegation of amnesty international at his Maisuma residence and apprised them about the human rights situation in Jammu Kashmir. The delegation included Divya Iyer and Christine Mehta. According to statement issued to Srinagar based news gathering agency Global News Service (GNS) Malik, while talking to the delegation informed them about the reign of terror unleashed by police, forces and VDCs inJammu division especially Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar and other areas. “This state terrorism is still going on and oppression to crush peaceful political workers and activists continues unabated.” Malik said that amnesty international is an international institution safeguarding the human rights of people across the globe. “Kashmiri’s too have high hopes of this institution and it is our wish that this institution, rising above the political and other interests, should keep its efforts on to safeguard the human rights of Kashmiris. AI has to take a serious note of this state repression and try to safeguard innocent Kashmiris from this state terrorism.” Stressing on banning Village Defence Committees, Malik said a force that is being provided guns, ammunition and economical help by Indian state has unleashed a reign of terror in Jammu region. “Today, every common man in Jammu belt is demanding the disbanding of this terrorist force.” “If India does not want to disband and disarm this terrorist force it should also own its activities and register it as a regular force so that its criminal acts are also recorded,” JKLF Chief added. JKLF Chief said that Indian judiciary has also been used to terrorize Kashmiris. “During lastfew years, about 35 Kashmiris have been sentenced to life by various courts. This oppression, suppression and gross violation of human rights in Jammu Kashmir need immediate attention of the world community.” Expressing his faith on amnesty internationalMalik hoped this organization will keep on working for the safeguarding of human rights of the people of Jammu Kashmir. “Amnesty International, being the foremost organization working for the human rights of people has more responsibilities in this regard,” Malik added.
