Among hardline leftists Ive interacted with (those on the communist spectrum), Ive noticed something interesting. The most sanctimonious and insufferable of them tend to be the anarcho-communists, left-communists, and Trotskyists. Theyre the ones who basically want to destroy the lives of everyone who disagrees with them via execution by public opinion, trying to get opponents fired from their jobs and made unemployable, and similar tactics (Antifa tend to be big on this). The more dictatorial, Stalinist, Maoist — the more nationally, as opposed to internationally, oriented — style of communist, the kind who will essentially defend any regime that stands up to American power (i.e., Tankies), Ive noticed tend to be much more socially tolerant and interested in large-scale revolution while still being sensitive to existing conditions to an extent. Their demonization of opponents is more gleeful than thoroughly vindictive, and they can tolerate the existence of people who arent on board with their projects (if not those who stand resolutely against them). Im not surprised, really, but I enjoy noticing this distinction. Does anyone else have similar or divergent experiences with the far-left?
