Amosun has neglected Ogun rural areas -SDP Samuel Awoyinfa, Abeokuta Punch Newspaper The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Ogun State, Senator Akin Odunsi, has faulted the ruling All Progressives Congress, led by Governor Ibikunle Amosun, of neglecting the rural areas. He said this while making his acceptance speech at the party’s mega rally held on Wednesday at the Ake Palace Ground in Abeokuta, the state capital. The rally was attended by the leader of the party Chief Olusegun Osoba; his wife, Aderionsola; chairman of the party, Chief Olu Agemo; and elder statesmen, Chief Olaniwun Ajayi and Chief Ayo Adebanjo, among others. Odunsi, who was flanked by his running mate, the current deputy governor of the state, Mr. Segun Adesegun, said the subsequent administration after Osoba, including that of Amosun, had neglected the rural communities. He said, “If elected, this administration as one of its seven-point agenda, will pursue integrated rural development and development, because there is no evidence of governance in the rural areas. “We have discovered that there is no evidence of governance in all the rural areas of the state, apart from what Chief Olusegun Osoba had done when he was the governor of the state.” The rally, which also had in attendance eight current members of the National Assembly, who had defected from the APC to the SDP, witnessed the presence of massive party supporters from 20 local government areas of the state. The governorship candidate promised that his administration would run an all-inclusive government that would provide qualitative education, qualitative health care delivery, potable water and create a friendly and conducive environment for industrialists and employment. He said, “A lot of our communities are in darkness, we will also embark on integrated power project. We will change from the monolithic infrastructural development to all critical sectors.”
