Amy, I bet you dont have this one and I bet you cant find it. Its a pretty general Oriental dipping sauce version of Duck Sauce, but its more common in New England than most other areas of the country. It is nothing like La Choy brand, Nothing like what you find in Southern states. I have found it in New York and some places on the West coast from LA to San Francisco and maybe around Chicago. I love to use it to add to stir-fry vegetable dishes that you spoon over sauteed rice noodles. Its a little sweet with a hint of ginger flavor, I think it contains a lot of apple sauce and probably some sort of plums, but no chunks. I have tried recipes that range from (believe it or not) peaches to whatever fruit you can imagine, one even used orange peel. I had been dining at this one restaurant since age of 7 to about 45. I asked them for the recipe, they said they buy it premixed in a 5 gallon bucket and never tried to make it themselves. It does look a lot like the image below, but it is heavier, I think the difference is what Im looking for might be in the apple sauce.
