At Fleur and Bill’s wedding, Remus held a glass of champagne and watched everyone dancing silently, smiling when anyone met his eyes. He looked wistful, morose perhaps, brooding. “Remus, darling, what’s on your mind?” He turned slightly, seeing the black curly hair of his love, and smiled. “Nothing my love. I was just wondering where you were. Would you like to dance?” Sirius looked out over the dance floor, seeing his godson dancing, though disguised, with Ginny. Ron and Hermione were dancing, the quidditch player from Durmstrang glowering at them. The Lovegood girl was waving her hands about her head and spinning in a circle. Bill and Fleur were twirling about with smiles on their faces. Even Molly and Arthur were dancing. He looked back to Remus. “Yes I would,” he smiled. Remus set his drink behind him on a table, and swept Sirius onto the dancefloor. Within a few steps both men were grinning and laughing with everyone else. Remus swung Sirius out from him and brought him back in, they rocked back and forth and swung around easily. The photographer took a photo of the dancefloor, wishing to document their mirth. It was the last photo taken of the two of them with all of their loved ones. When the Patronus message announced that the ministry had fallen, the wedding exploded into chaos. Remus and Sirius met eyes, kissed one last time, and nodded to each other before they separated to make sure everyone made it to a safehouse. They didn’t see each other again until the Battle of Hogwarts. A long look and an even longer kiss was shared before they fought. The next time they were together was in the Forbidden Forest, when Harry turned the Resurrection Stone thrice in hand. They stood with James and Lily as Harry stood firm and sacrificed himself for those he loved. They had never been so proud. ~Francis the Lily-Petal Fish
