Amzaulu 1 Mpumalanga Black Aces 2. Goals from Omar Hendricks and Themba Zwane handed MP Black Aces and coach Clive Barker their first win in the 2013/14 Absa Premiership season. It was a solid performance from Aces who walked away 2-1 winners at the Princess Magogo stadium on Tuesday night, handing AmaZulu their first defeat of the season. Early on neither team was really able to hold onto the ball for sustained periods of time due to some poor passing and lack of concentration when on the ball. Still, there was no shortage of goalmouth action and we saw the game’s opening goal in the 19th minute after Omar Hendricks powered home a long-range swerving shot, 1-0. The goal gave Aces some confidence and they began to push forward more, but they were unable to fashion any more decent chances in front of goal. The second half saw AmaZulu playing some better football, but their finishing let them down after they created a few decent scoring chances. Finally, the home side did make their pressure tell and they looked to have salvaged a point when Bonginkosi Macala found the equaliser seven minutes from time after tucking home a pass from Sthembiso Ngcobo, 1-1. But it was not to be for AmaZulu as Zwane broke the home fans’ hearts with virtually the last kick of the game. The Usuthu man was quickest to react after the keeper initially stopped a Mabhuti Khenyeza shot, pouncing on the rebound to score the winner, 2-1.
