An 82 year old woman paces back and forth in front of her tv, wringing her hands in worry because she has heard rumors and threats that the government shutdown may cause her not to receive her monthly check. The check she depends on to pay her bills and buy food. This check is NOT a handout or charity from the Federal government, its a check she and her now deceased husband EARNED! Years of hardwork and paying into SS and taxes, believeing their rights were being protected by this government, paying into this system, to support them when they were to elderly to work. She is making plans to cutback on her already below poverty budget.......just in case the check doesnt come. This is real life.....this is America......and this woman, is my mother. Ive tried calming her fears but to no avail. She is convinced she needs to have a plan B........just in case. This partisan war.....political fiasco, is heaping unnecessary torment and worry on this nations most vunerable citizens: the aging, the disabled and our veterans....And, the media mafia fuels it. Around the nation and in DC.....many are in protest. We need to support them all and be a part of. In protest......I have tore up my voters registration card. I will be disassociating myself from any political party. Before I pay another penny in Federal taxes, I want an itamized statement from the government where every penny I pay will be funded. If Im not in agreement.....I will refuse to pay. If you think this is stupid......if you think this is radical.......just look at what your government is doing. If you think I care what people think....sorry, youre wrong! If you think Im worried that the men in black will cart me away in handcuffs for protesting......sorry again! We the People......have the power to take our country back. It is time.
