An American author and investigative journalist has said that al-Qaeda is basically “the construct of the United States that was corresponded and trained in Afghanistan.” US President Barack Obama said on Wednesday that the “core of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan is on the way to defeat.”He made the remarks during a speech at Camp Pendleton in California less than a week after the US State Department issued a global travel alert for US citizens, warning that al-Qaeda might be planning “to conduct attacks” by the end of August. “Whether it’s President Clinton orPresident George W. Bush and now President Obama, they’ve always pulled the al-Qaeda card, trump card, when they need it,” said Wayne Madsen in a phone interview with Press TV on Thursday. The US closed 21 embassies and consulates in the Middle East and North Africa on Sunday due to theState Department’s warning over a possible terror attack by al-Qaeda. A department spokesperson, Jen Psaki, announced on Sunday that US embassies and consulates in 19 cities would remain closed through August 10. “Right now we’re hearing all this concentration on al-Qaeda from Mr. Obama because the National Security Agency spying is under a lot of pressure from members of Congress and from some in the media so they had to restore al-Qaeda as a major threat,” said Madsen. “This is the covert nature of the US false flag operations that have been taking place prior to 9/11 and now over a decade after 9/11,” he added.
