An Angus councillor has suggested on his blog that the council should increase fines for dog fouling. Currently, a fine of £40 is issues for the offence, rising to £60 if not paid in 28 days. David May, who is councillor for Montrose, wrote: This small amount means that councils are reluctant to take this to the procurer fiscal as it costs them more to do this than they would get back once the fine was paid. Do you think a large fine would act as a deterrent?
