An Election is a time not to let history repeat itself Tuesday, 25 September 201205 September 2012The Public Meeting that Council Resolved to Hold and then, nothing. I guess they lost their resolve. The Public Meeting that Council Resolved to Hold and then, nothing. I guess they lost their resolve. Kind of makes you wonder why we should take their resolutions seriously when they dont. Of course Im talking about the resolution to hold a public meeting to inform the public, and allow the public to ask questions, about Info Energy. Pat Sobeski and Deb Tait built their reputations as champions of the people by calling for a meeting to clear the air and expose the mismanagement and possible malfeasance of the Info Energy board. They created suspicions that identifiable persons associated with Info Energy were guilty of unspecified shady dealings. They got Council to pass a resolution to clear the air and hold a public meeting. And then that meeting never happened. All that was heard from our dynamic duo was, nothing. Crickets chirping. We didnt get our meeting and the members of the board of Info Energy continue to live under a cloud of suspicion because the matter was never resolved in the eyes of the public. Thats OK though. They got their names in the paper and got re-elected. Paul Plant even got into the act. This is from the Sentinel Review back when Council was dodging flak about the meeting that disappeared. Paul Plant was also critical, saying if council has no intention of ever holding a public meeting on this subject, it should simply say so and face the consequences. “It was promised,” Plant said. So. Now we have Mayor Sobeski, City/County Councillor Tait, and Councillor Plant. That makes three people on Council that are on record as advocating for the public and demanding a meeting. Our heroes. It only takes one more to pass a resolution to hold that meeting (again.) Both Bill Bes and Jim Northcott are likely candidates to vote in favour of the meeting. Theyve been sitting on this new council for almost two years now. Anyone mentioned an Info Energy public meeting? Its time to clear the air. The public deserve it and so do the individuals who have been accused of wrong doing without benefit of an opportunity to publicly defend themselves. If council has no intention of ever holding a public meeting on this subject, it should simply say so and face the consequences. It was promised.
