An Interesting conversation between an Indian Manager and US client: Client: You seem to have only 3 years of experience managing a small team, how do you justify that a big team more like a family with different ambiguities, you will be able to manage...it is very difficult task ...I should rather focus someone having dealt with people management with pretty vast experience ........ Manager: Sir with all due respect the experience you are seeing is on paper, where actually my experience is more than 20 years.... Client: Sorry ....I am not if I did get correctly can you please elaborate and help me understand.... Manager: I will be obliged...Sir I belong to a joint family in world`s largest democratic population country ..surrounded by literally hundreds of relatives and close neighbours, friends etc, from different mindset.....it is in our culture to learn human behaviour and mature over time to handle as per any given situation ...on ground handling and dealing with such people management including remote management where we have hundreds of stake holders and much larger base to address, without any proper infra or pre-conceptualized risk compliance process...we learn to act in real time in a very cool and enjoying manner...... Client: Well ...While I respect your bringing up and your country ...but I am not sure how does that align with my company needs...I need to keep my team motivated so that my service is not affected and thus my business...Don`t you think it is better to get someone who has in depth knowledge of my product and service offerings... Manager: Yes Sir A good engineer with similar product knowledge will definitely be the best choice ...possibly you could hire one from your competitor and may amend your product for excelling ...however, I believe prior to product, people connect to people ....in India many a people uses LUX soap just because it is endorsed by many super stars....Here and I believe possibly everywhere it is emotion which connects than technology...You are still talking to me as you are tending to believe into my concept....that is how I am selling you....And I am able to sense it confidently as I have not been taught these skills in any B-schools rather I never went one ....but due to my social culture ...that is how i could term as real time analytic.... Client:Hmmmm....I am convinced but I am not sure if I will able to communicate the same way in my board..... Manager: I am afraid you possibly won`t be Sir and your fear is right....Please pardon me but since you are not so experienced in handling people as I am with so much of situations given .....I feel it will be tough for you ...but I really want to help you pust it through board.... Client: Ok ...cool I will put you across my board I am sure they will come up with more or less similar question ....but I am not worried you are highly experienced in analyzing and handling critical situation ...It is a blessing you people are born with such skill ..I have started realizing ....I should rather expand my strength in India with more Indians hiring in ....Only need make them realize about themselves what you made me realize ...... Manager : Thanks for Good words.... Client: My pleasure ....I look forward to work long and learn a lot from you people ....Actually I have started feeling so delighted and confident after discussing to you .....Well I need to drop now ...Thanks again Manager`s CEO: Hey how was the call ?? Don`t tell me Client is still not with us?? Manager: They are with us , call was good... CEO: What was he discussing so long....are they revising their products again.... Manager: No simply timepass...he was showing some frustration initially now he is been handled ....I have given him good thesis which should work for next few months.... :) CEO: OK....but please keep a check I do not understand why do we recieve escalation in first place... Manager: Sure I will check..... Manager: To himself...Good work ...you are awesome :).
