An Ode to Dr. King He was just a simple Baptist Minister, When he walked into our imagination, The only thing he brought with him, Was his Bible and his determination. He stood up for equality and justice, Became the conscience of our land, Peaceful civil disobedience was his weapon, Speaking truth to power was his stand. He never once wavered from his cause, No matter how much he was maligned, He went wherever he was needed, Standing for the rights of all humankind. Let us remember what he gave to us, How he stood up for freedom for us all, That wherever there was downtrodden, Dr. King would be there standing tall.
