An Ode to my Dad Exactly 6 years today.. As the day was winding up .. ,just leaving the hospital as u fought to stay your breathe.. I was eagerly looking forward to the next day to speak with u,when the next voice about you roared the demise of a Man amongst men.. My child hood hero,,,childhood champ.. I recall with deep nostalgia our shared moments,disagreements,arguments.. Your intense passion for hardwork , Your intelligence ,your history decked with the rubies of human milk, You were humanitys man..,a man who loved man. You shone and your fellow men made you its king. You served and all u did still serves them both in memory and in time . I have had to nurse the silent pains of missing a father.. I miss u. No one can fill the shoes of those phone calls. The touch of one who believed in me. I will never forget u saying try best ee Ma give up olorun a se Iyanu Those words still shape me. I cried when I saw your lifeless body.. I cry when I cant call u again .. I cry when I see u around my world no more.. I cry and clear my eyes knowing u have built in me enough to be built . Not easy not having you around but I have learnt to trudge on,keep the torch burning Fight my battles ,stay on the field ..win! Ever since you left..my life has never been the same again..and it will never be I look into my children I see You in Craigs unmistakable witty and positively uncanny intelligence I see your brilliance ,restlessness and activity in Michelle ..,she leads her class in everything .. I see your humour in us all.. My mum bears your demise in much fortitude ,my sister depicts one without your massive daddy ship My wife..,misses all she had of u. Discussing with my son yesterday as he showed his admiration for the name Abisade, saying he likes the fact that he was born during your reign ,I shed tears,,recalling when he was born how u were so proud and how you with premonition called to see him a few days to your demise . Am still dreaming like u taught me dad, still serving God Like u encouraged me to continue You however never taught me how not to miss u.. I can never learn that again.. HRH Oba Michael Olusegun Onayinka ( late Gbegande of Ososa) I miss u Dad..,I will always do.
