An Old Way to Control Seizures Just in case anybody is - TopicsExpress

An Old Way to Control Seizures Just in case anybody is interested, there is another LEGAL method of controlling some or many seizure problems. I am a news junkie, and, as such, I see a lot of stuff that most people overlook. I can remember a lot of one program that I saw at least 15 or 20 years ago. (A full discussion would take me at least 1,000 words, so I will stick with the basics.) It follows: A Hollywood movie producer had a very small child, perhaps a year or two old. (He showed her on a movie he made.) This child had REPEATED SEIZURES, maybe every 5 minutes or so, day in and day out. It was a really pitiful scene. The movie producer wanted to find out all about seizures, and here is what he happened upon. Maybe about 80 years ago, (I will fact-check later) there was a doctor who not only TREATED seizures but CURED them. But the doctor had already died. So the movie producer found the doctors nurse, who had SAVED all the doctors notes and findings, and she informed the producer about it all. It turned out that the late doctor had CURED some or many of his patients by putting them on a HIGH FAT DIET. (I do not remember the fat percentage, but it was HIGH. I will fact-check this.) Note that this HIGH FAT DIET cured them; it did not merely treat a condition. The movie producer showed follow-up footage of his child who went on a high fat diet. So, I just have to tell you just WHY I am convinced that this HIGH FAT CURE is legitimate. (But I will research it further.) Case Number One: A loved one had INDUCED EPILEPSY after a fall. She tired of taking her pills, because they actually made her tired all day; she did not tell anybody that she quit the pills, because the doctor talked of them as long-term or life-long treatment for epilepsy. Instead, probably out of some frustration, she ate a lot and gained a lot of weight, maybe 40 or 50 pounds, but nobody kept good track of her weight. I can only imagine she might have eaten more fat than many doctors and nutritionists advocate. But, she has had no follow-up seizures and she is now slimmed down to a very healthy weight. Case Number Two: A friend who worked with me was a permanent epileptic, from a head injury. I told him about high fat diets; he got fatter, but I dont know why. But I do know that his workplace seizures had greatly diminished; as a matter of fact, I did not see any more seizures at all, for maybe a year or two. Of course, some part of his healing might have come about from his telling his doctor about his progress or lack of progress. He took scorecards to his doctor. So, what were these scorecards, and where did he get them? I will tell you: In the early years, this epileptic would have frequent (ever day or every week?) seizures. When he was in the process of recovering each time, it seemed like he was feeling a bit sheepish over something he could not control. After awhile, my friend Phil and I felt bad for this epileptic co-worker who would find himself looking in a What happened?-stare after each episode of seizures. My friend and I developed what we thought would be a little joke on him, to try to get him so relaxed that he would actually laugh about it. We made up little score cards like the judges use in rating the diving events at the Olympics and elsewhere. But we reversed the scoring system, giving a maximum of 10 points for his worst seizures, and lower numbers for milder seizures. We would hold the scores up high as a way of announcing how well he had performed for us. He learned to laugh about it, which is what we wanted. After a few months, this epileptic friend told me that he had taken our scores to his doctor, and it helped in his treatment. I am not sure if he told his doctor about the HIGH FAT DIET; all I know is that my epileptic friend got better (epilepsy-wise) as he got fatter. I would seriously say to you that you should ask your doctor whether he knows anything about using a HIGH FAT DIET (HIGH FAT CURE) for seizures. If not, pay attention to my Facebook page for my further research and more details on this. I fully realize that HIGH FAT is something deemed anathema by most modern-day doctors. Most of them think nutrition is a settled science, and so most of them will pooh pooh HIGH FAT diets as being dangerous, and certainly too dangerous to use as a cure. [A little aside: Years ago, I heard the now/former head of The American Heart Association (if my memory is correct) talking about the recommended diet for morbidly obese persons, those people who are 400 or 500 pounds. His radio host could not believe what he heard. You mean a LOW FAT diet? But the guest answered, ~No. We recommend a HIGH FAT diet because it makes them lose a lot of weight.~] I mention this because it is another instance where the obvious answer might not be so obvious. Doctor Adkins had it right when he recommended three slices of bacon for breakfast. My own nutritionist told me that all my numbers got better when I ate real butter, a few real eggs each day, and all the fat that God packs into all that animal flesh. I had thought that I might have eaten too much fat, but my nutritionist said that I was still short of the 25% fat limit recommended for me. I am now 30 pounds lighter than my days where I listened to conventional wisdom about fat, butter, eggs, fat meat, and more fat. Check this out for yourself, though.] SHARE THIS if you think it worthwhile. (I will also post this elsewhere.) John F. McDermott 1/21/14 at 10:11 PM
