An Update on the Hero Bureau From Tracy Moore Schroeder While I have a minute, I thought Id share what exactly The Hero Bureau will be doing at Global and what all that hard earned fundraising money is going for. We will arrive in Knoxville, TN next Tuesday. Along with 1300 teams (international and domestic), we will register and get settled into our dorm housing. I will be attending a team manager meeting that evening to get all last minute details on competition. The boys will be able to tour the campus with their parents and get acclimated to where everything is. We are very excited that we were chosen to be a buddy team!! We will be partnered with a team from Qatar (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qatar) and will be their domestic host team while they are here. This is a great privilege since there are more domestic than international teams and not everyone gets chosen to do this. Wednesday morning we will get to meet them at a special meet and greet breakfast. We will present them with some gifts that represent where we are from! Wednesday evening will be opening ceremonies which has been equated to the Olympics. We will all be wearing our Wisconsin DI team shirt and carrying lighted red glow tubes with the rest of the Wisconsin DI Affiliate. Thursday will bring our instant challenge and Friday is our Project Outreach presentation. Saturday night will conclude the competition with closing ceremonies. Aside from the times above, the team will have massive opportunities to attend workshops and challenges. These are sponsored and run by prestigious companies such as NASA and 3M. There are, also, workshops run by writers, actors and producers from Broadway. This is only a few of the workshops available and the connections they will have the chance to do/make. There are fun things for them to attend. A dance, pin trading areas and much more!! We are amazed at all they will be able to participate in because of your GENEROSITY and HARD WORK with all the fundraising and support!! We will keep you updated while we are there!!
