An age test. Who remembers carrying their cigarettes, in the rolled up sleeve of their t-shirt? Yes Travolta did it in Grease, but who have done that themselves? (that was a long time before filtered cigarettes, they were either Luckys or Camels) Who remembers carrying their cigarettes is a plastic case that took the whole back, and having them in their front pants packets (to prevent having to break the starch on their fatigue blouse pocket)? Ah, cartons were 90 cents at the PX and liquor was $1.00 a fifth (depending on what your bought, vodka was cheaper) at the NCO Club, but you only had ration tickets for 5 a month. Of course you could buy all the packs of cigarettes you wanted for ten cents a pack, and beer for a nickel or a dime, and shots for a dime in the club. Even the C-Rats came with a mini pack of 4 or 5 cigarettes, but they were so old they burned like a fuse when lit. I guess we were just not politically correct in them days. Amazing that our lungs and livers made it through.
