An ambitious project to protect and re-establish some of Australias threatened mammals. The construction of a purpose-built 43 kilometre fence at Mt Gibson will establish the largest fox and cat-free area on mainland Western Australia (7,800 hectares). AWC will reintroduce nine of Australia’s most endangered mammal species - the Bilby, Numbat, Woylie, Western Barred Bandicoot, Shark Bay Mouse, Red-tailed Phascogale, Greater Stick-nest Rat and Chuditch. This single project will help provide a more secure future for 14% (one in seven) of Australia’s 65 nationally threatened mammal species and will increase the global Numbat population by 33%.
