An anecdotal experience from my journeys which my friend wants me to share in facebook: An Austrian lady with a nice English accent asked me for my passport which i did not have with me on the short one day trip to Vienna. The taxi driver had earlier said if the front desk attendant asks for a passport tell her you just have an ID proof and flash your ID card. I did and since it was the Postal ID card which has Government of India department of post printed in it, she asked me "Oh so you work for the Postal department in India! how nice. I used to work for the Austrian Postal department. It must be a very interesting job!". I first wanted to say no, i am showing mere proof of ID issued by the postal department but ended up ad-libbing over my logical answer and said "well there you go, now your hotel has gotten itself a 5 feet 6 inches consignment delivered straight out by the Indian post!!" She laughed and later i explained her about how it is just an ID card.
