An anti-jigger lobby group and a lawmaker from Murang’a have rebuked Murang’a county government for threatening to enact a law to punish jigger- infested people. Ahadi Kenya Trust CEO Stanley Kamau and Murang’a Women’s repre- sentative Wanjiru Chege said criminalising jiggers is an abuse to those affected by the vermin. Speaking at Ngutu Primary School in Mathioya, Kamau said the threats by the county government are ignoring the cause of the problem. Kamau gave more than 3,000 pairs of shoes to the pupils. “Anybody threatening to punish the jigger-infested people is ignorant of the poverty in the region,” he said. He said the county government should create job opportunities for the unemployed. - See more at: the-star.co.ke/news/article-124522/mp-castigates-jigger-decree-muranga#sthash.vkXyX5Ap.dpuf
