*An earlier update from Mom this morning.* Lindsey is resting right now. I appreciate your visits and taking time to love on my family. I know youve seen my emails but want to stress that I am blessed... 1. Awesome RAIDER family of faculty and students present and past. 2. Awesome community where people love on one another in time of need. Friends and family support has been amazing. 3. Awesome volunteers for humanitarian services. The two off duty volunteer firefighters who stopped because of their service to people saved her life. I got to talk to Albert Watkins on the phone and Jeff Gerrin and his wife Sylvia (works in school nutrition at central office) came to the hospital last night to check on Lindsey. I did not want to stop hugging his neck. He was an angel sent by God at just the right time. These two men acted on faith and obedience to do what they did. They had no gloves or protective wear but was being protected by the almighty protector which is much better than any gloves or suits can do. 4. Students bold enough in their faith to proclaim Gods word and faithfulness publicly. Not just by voice but written for our community to see and be part of as they painted the rock to inspire my Lindsey. I showed her the picture of it yesterday and it brought a smile to her face and a tear from her eye. She could not talk yesterday or she would have bragged on the beauty of it. She is talking a little today and have asked these questions this morning: What happened? Are my friends here? How long will I be here? Two of the three questions are easy to answer. I explained the accident and told her she has had over 100 visitors as we took over the 3rd floor ICU waiting room. I started naming everyone who has come and emailed and texted asking about her and I rambled on so long she fell asleep. I will finish when she wakes again. She doesnt remember the accident but has recognized everyone so far. She is progressing in a positive direction. They are starting the blood thinner (aspirin) today to help to not have clotting from the two torn carotid arteries in her brain (not on sides of neck but up into the brain). Since up higher it makes it more difficult to treat. Hope to hear from neurological department at Grady hospital today about those two arteries and if surgery has to be done. No CT scan will be done today as originally planned. Not sure why but checking. Thanks again to you all for your caring ways! Love to you all. Please tell the Raider student body we appreciate all their love and support and to keep praying for her restored health. I am so proud of their spirit and unity that shows when they are passionate about something. Keep up that RAIDER SPIRIT. Alice *Latest Update from Mom* Lindsey is still improving. She looks better, but trauma to her body is being felt more today with pain and swelling. She was able to eat three bites of jello and able to swallow an aspirin to help thin out the blood for the torn carotid arteries so they dont clot and flake off causing damage or strokes of the brain. That is their main goal right now. They are having to balance the thinning of blood for that with not too much thinning to cause the brain bleed to start again. It is two different places in her head and totally separate issues. They have done X-rays of wrists and ankles due to pain and swelling. No results yet. They have taken her now (which is why I have time to update cause she wants me close to her) for another MRI of her head and neck. She is having severe neck pain and they want to check on ligament damage. She is still a brave soul and staying strong. She wants me to give yall and students a message thanks and hello. Short and to the point but her words. Again I showed her the rock pictures and she had a tear come down her face. She didnt remember me showing it to her earlier. I thank you again for your love and support. And taking volunteers for the washing of her hair and getting out all the tangles. It will be hard with staples from the top to bottom of her head. Have a good afternoon! Love, Alice
