An eclectic fun Social Bicycle Ride that celebrates our right to ride. It tours through the bohemian fun parts of our city. The largest weekly ride in Alabama was created by Stan Palla and Vero Vanblaere (Naked Art). Silvertron Cafe is the ride sponsor. It begins at 6:05 pm on Tuesdays across from Naked Art in the heart of Forest Park and ends with food, drinks and fun at Silvertron Cafe in Forest Park. Please Join Alabike, Buy stuff at Naked Art, and eat at Silvertron. It will make us happy. This ride is for everyone. No spandex or fancy bike required. We travel 11 miles in a basically flat ride. Invite your friends Arrive Silvertron Cafe 15 minutes early to assemble bike, air tires, etc... WHEELS ROLL AT 6:05! Tail and head lights are recommended. Also a spare tube and a method to inflate is needed also. It is not a law to wear a helmet in Birmingham or most of Alabama but we recommend it. It is your choice. However all research shows you are safer with it on. We do expect you to obey the law. We are trying to represent cycling in a good light. Rides will be cancelled due to bad weather. We do not ride if it is raining or if under 40 degrees. You can if you want. The ride tours through Avondale, Highland, 5 points, UAB, Railroad Park, Lynn Park and back. 10 miles at the most. There is plenty of car parking up the street on 38th at former Killarneys/Gigi. To lock your bike during dinner, there are bike racks at Naked Art, up the stairs if you dont mind carrying your bike a few steps. Drinks, food and shenanigans at Silvertron Cafe afterwards:15% discount for Tour de Hammers.
