An elder of our community, Sylvia Bilander, passed away early - TopicsExpress

An elder of our community, Sylvia Bilander, passed away early Sunday morning with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all nearby. She was 92. Sylvia was a kind, sweet, bighearted spirit who made an impact on many lives. I looked forward to my occasional visits with her in Cambridge, and I will miss her. She was a committed activist all her life; she felt the deepest appreciation for nature, and found a true home in World Fellowship, on whose Board she served. She and her husband Leo first came here in 1959, and she rarely missed a summer after that. Her family asks that those who wish to honor her memory make a contribution in her name to World Fellowship. Adam Mosston did an interview with Sylvia last summer, of which a clip was in the short video he made. He graciously put some more of it together, and here it is. A memorial service will be announced sometime soon. Her physical remains will be interred at the Memorial Wall. Sylvia’s family can be reached through her daughters: Gina Bilander, 123 Dudley ST, # 2, Cambridge MA 02140. Dianne Perlmutter and Julie Silberman, 59 Granville Rd. Cambridge, MA 02138 --ANDY
