An email from my surgeons assistant this morning regarding my most recent CT scan: I just wanted to let you know that Dr. Rxxxxxx looked at your CT Scan and says it looks great! No sign of any metastatic disease and no big fluid collections. Please excuse me as I cry a few tears of relief at this blessed news. The anxiety Ive been experiencing since the scan is now beginning to disappear. Although I must admit, this news needs more time to sink in as I still have a hard time believing there are no traces of cancer in my system. To have gone from stage IV metastatic colon cancer (as bad as it can get, really) to being declared cancer-free is a lot to take in and believe. I should emphasize, however, that the free-of-cancer news is going to be a hell of a lot easier to live with and acccept than my original Stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Overall, the feeling this morning is one of huge relief, which hopefully will just get stronger as the days and weeks roll by. Time for some reflection... (to be continued)
