An excerpt from Toroks journal (These are simply things as he sees them so deal if you dont like it) War, war never changes, you know this statement it has some truth but honestly, it’s us we never change. I’ve seen kings rise and fall all over these lands been sworn to so many different kings that I lost count and honestly, I have to wonder if this age will bring forth a true king that could unite the common folk, that’s where the real power lies. I was born a commoner on a small island in the north east; it was more a chain of islands now I think about it. God they were beautiful before I left, wonder what they are like now… Its nights like tonight that make me think about these things, things I’ve lost. Many lands, a lover or two and my soul. Laying here in the candle light I think it’s the lovers I miss the most, lands come and go and my soul well I don’t know about that anymore, but good company that’s hard to find. So I should properly keep track of this campaign since it’s what I do, no idea why I do anymore I simply burn the books once the king dies, his armies split and the warlords rise. Well I’ve thrown my lot in with a warband called the darkens lead by an able leader named Torzon, he seems like he might have a screw lose since he keeps summoning demons, gods and beasts but he still looks like one of the most able leaders, always in the front row never asking more of his men then he asks of himself. Wonder if drinking is better than writing… The others that are in this fight for some crown or throne; I don’t even care what they want any more just want to die. Well firstly a bunch of men that call themselves the wolf clan, they might look terrifying in there steel armour but give them a hill to run up and they are just as likely to fall down it as run up it. It sure is funny watching them try to chase someone. Next in line is the mercenary clan such a run of the mill group, no solid alliance makes this funny for me because come the closing days of this war they will be the first to die, such a shame to some of them seem to know the pointy end of a sword and don’t just stick themselves with it. Can’t go much further without bring up the plague from the east, The Mugen. While skilled in solo fighting and honourable enough, shame honour won’t stop a blade arrow or spear tip. I’ve seen this type of force so many times that I’ve lost track, but the basic story is the same, comers from a foreign land who just keep bringing in more and more out siders in an effort to break the locals, I can’t be too hard on them on this point as I myself hail from a land no one of these lands would know of conscripted into the armies of some king to fight his wars. Lastly the Dragon marked, they are an odd bunch, using tactics that benefit their size in this conflict, I’m not so sure about where their loyalties lie though, as they were supporting the plague from the east. It’s odd that all these clans with so many races in each would find themselves fighting in the land of Vantacor, where I had finally settled. The gods sure are cruel, no rest for the dammed… I need to make note of this, there is a women here fair of skin and attractive enough who calls he self Queen of the Undead. The reason I need to note this is because I refuse to follow another ‘Queen of the Undead’ not after the last one… But I might as well see where this will go. Gods be just this ‘Queen’ will rest in pieces for her transgressions.
