Thanks..... “.....for that spilt second, time froze for ba’ale Adesina. He had seen the man pull the trigger. His two eyes had focused in fear and dread on the barrel of the gun in the hand of his assailant. He could not fight off the horror and morbidity that the metal in the hand of the man held for him. Two shots had rang out as two slugs escaped from the barrel of the gun. One had buried itself in the chief’s head, while the other found a home in his chest. At that instant, the chief felt a simultaneous jab in his head and chest. Like two cooperating forces, the pains quickly spread from his head and chest to the rest of his body. Despite the pains, he could still see the two men standing erect in front of him like two large Iroko tress and members of his family lying there on the floor, his wife the Olori, clutching his eldest daughter in a nervous embrace, palpable fear and horror visible in their faces. Gradually, all the images began to appear blurred. The scared and sobbing voices of his Olori and daughter and the harsh orders from the leader of the group beginning to sound as though it was all coming from a distance. He strained his eyes and mind to get a clearer picture of events that was now unfolding in a slow motion as though he was in some large cinema hall but failed to make sense of it all. Suddenly, the fading images turned to a clear sky with bodies of cloud. Then these clouds all of a sudden shifted to one side and allowed for a dwarf-like moon to appear. To the chief, this moon looked beautiful at first, until it suddenly exploded in his eyes. Everything went blank for him at that instant of the explosion. He didn’t hear the sound of the people around him anymore. The pains he was feeling disappeared at that instant as well. What followed this disappearance was blackness, coldness and silence: DEATH…..” Coming soon…MEN OF STRAW by Akanbi Albert Afeso
