An exciting update from The Alveolar Capillary Dysplasia - TopicsExpress

An exciting update from The Alveolar Capillary Dysplasia Association (ACDA) who are based in the US but support #ACD families around the world. acd-association/ I am THRILLED to announce that the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has granted the ACDA non-profit status!!!! The ACDA was told that it would take the IRS a year to process our application but we received our notice within 2 months! Some of the benefits of being a non-profit include: • an individuals or company’s charitable contributions to the ACDA are tax-deductible • the ACDA is allowed to solicit charitable donations from the public • the ACDA can participate in many different fundraisers • the ACDA is eligible for state and federal exemptions from corporate income taxes plus certain other taxes The first board meeting of the the non-profit will be held in early September. As has been mentioned before, the following people will serve a one year (renewable) term: President: Steve Hanson Secretary: Kim Anderson Bush Treasurer: Donna Hanson Regarding the funds raised for ACD research - The initial plan is to continue using the National Organization of Rare Disorders (NORD) in the United States to issue grants on our behalf. You, your family members and your friends will now have the option to make tax-deductible donations to either the ACDA or NORD. The ACDA will periodically make donations to NORD also as determined by the Board. Donna and I would like to take this time to say thank you to all of you (and your families and friends) that raised money, participated in research or donated your time or services during the past 18 years. We hope that all of you will find a way to continue to make a difference in your babies memory. A special thank you to Madonna and Jeff Myers (our founders), Lisa and Harry Durand, Jackie Woodward, Diana Locke, Emily and Tim Eschweiler, Kim Anderson Bush, Amelia and Simon Ashwell, Michelle Litwiller, Michaela Oltmans, our anonymous donor and our families. This is such a great achievement for our small group of parents. Lets build on this milestone - we are still searching for answers, hoping for a cure. Please share this good news with your families and friends. Fondly, Steve Hanson, ACDA President Father to Eric - June 7-17, 1997
