An expansion on 1914-17, how the Eastern front of WWI went differently and changed the map of Europe after the war. Im focusing on the middle east and Australia but imagine how this would have affected British Commonwealth elsewhere and the colonies of the other European nations... 1914 - 1917 WWI - The Russian army is supported by the Green party to keep lines of re-supply open, This allows Russian troops to capitalise on their victories, especially against the Austrians - The improved agricultural sector blunts the suffering of the masses - The February Revolution takes place in Petrograd but doesnt gain the same momentum so that the provisional government has a stronger hand. - The Tsar is convinced to abdicate in favour of Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich, a hero of the Carpathian campaign, who proves to be a popular and able military leader although a democratic and easily led political pawn of the provisional government - The October Revolution narrowly fails when the Greens side with the provisional parliament and the new Tsars regiment, the Caucasian Native Mounted Division, arrives in Petrograd influencing the situation with their military force. Tsar Michael calls them off and in a dramatic speech to the Petrograd Duma makes a promise of sweeping democratic changes, in effect making Russia into a constitutional monarchy. This elevates him to a political hero now and wins him near universal popularity. - Lenin flees Russia, narrowly escaping with his life, traveling through Finland and Scandinavia to England where he goes into hiding from the imperial secret police - The Imperial army fights on with the Greens keeping open the supply lines. Tsar Michael, who is their C in C, is seen as a saviour of the country although he is chiefly successful because he promotes and trusts progressive and honest senior officers. - Michael does not forget his Caucasus army and gives them a top notch C in C who leads them through Armenia into Anatolia so that they are threatening the very centre of the Ottoman Empire, Constantinople when the war ends - Evidence is found of in Eastern Anatolia of ancient technology derived from an extinct saurian race which is based on the transmutation of elements and drives a new international interest in Chemical research - The German Eastern front collapses and Russian imperial forces advance into eastern Europe. Basically the Russian advance breaks the stalemate on the western front so that they end the war. - An armistice is called in Europe roughly along the same lines as after WWII. - War reparations are dominated by Imperial Russia - Russian forces pull back out of all central European countries except for Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia. However before they pull back they install puppet governments which vote to joint the Slavic Union (the Eastern Bloc nations). - A Cold War descends over Europe as Imperial Russia cements trade and defense relations with their Slav brothers. Other countries dont fair as well. - Returning troops spread great flu epidemic
