An hour drive from our Villa brought us to Florence, city of Renaissance artists and thinkers, filled with unimaginable art treasures, churches, fine leather goods, gold jewelry and designer boutiques. The highlight of Florence us of course Michelangelos Sculpture, DAVID. I couldnt hold back the tears. They poured at the sheer beauty of: no pictures/ photographs can show the detail and beauty. To think a 26 year old young man did that! More in the pics. We walked over Ponte Vecchio bridge the only bridge in town NOT bombed by fleeing Germans in WWII . The medieval bridge dates back to 1348. Shops have always lined the bridge, today it is primarily gold shops . I visited the leather shops and flee markets... Nope, good girl made no purchases. Pouring buckets of rain throughout the day and dodging lightning strikes with our umbrellas raised, we slid into the Duomo and Palace Vecchio for shelter. The Palace was owned by the very prominent and wealthy Medici family (gorgeous library and books) I cant resist to share the foods we find.... So drool away! The Villa we are staying in is high on its own hill in a petit town called Lecchi.. About 200 people here. The Villa was purchased by a family whose Papa had a vision for his family. They would all give up their jobs to work very hard and live together to make this Villa a place for all to come and heal the soul .Everything is family run...grandmama does ALL the homemade Tuscan cooking for us. She comes out of the kitchen at night after dessert while we raise our glass to toast her đŸ·đŸ·What a treat.
