An important message to all my refugee friends- Nobody got Killed - TopicsExpress

An important message to all my refugee friends- Nobody got Killed today. It is a false rumour!!! Today was a terrible day for many refugees, detainees, fighting for their freedom and rights. But it had also been a terrible day for their families and friends outside of prison and to many Israelis that support their rights and are part of the struggle for human rights and refugee rights. A peaceful protest had been cracked down by the police, the immigration police and other forces. Many people were wounded, humiliated and the whole community is devastated and scared. I believe this is another dark day in the history of Israel and I know many Israelis who are ashamed of it and are struggling to change the situation in the country. There are a few comments I would like to share with you and I would thank you for sharing them with your friends: In the terrible events this evening, people got hurt. As far as we have learned so far, quite a few people got hurt today, 8 of which are still in hospital. ALL ARE ALIVE. NOBODY DIED THIS EVENING. There had been rumours spreading that some people have died. These rumours are not true. It is very important to stop spreading these rumours. First, because it causes terrible distress among families and friends. But another reasons is that it allows the government to do ANYTHING they wish. Tomorrow they will just say: We didnt kill anybody. Why are you complaining? But we are struggling against their violence and the violation of human and refugees rights. They need not kill anybody in order to commit the crimes they are committing. If we do not stop the rumours immediately, we will be responsible for the escalation of the governments behaviour. As far as we know, the events this evening involved a brutal use of force, but not of deadly violence. Another rumours I heard from friends in the Eritrean community regarding the methods used to calm refugees who were arrested, (injecting some drug) but it also lacks credibility. In the eye of the storm it is difficult to know what is true and what is false. Lets wait for tomorrow till things clear. We will learn, then, that todays events were nothing special: just more of the horrible fight of the Israeli government against refugee rights. Sad, horrible, but not different that what we are already used to. Let the protest continue as a PEACEFUL protest. Only a peaceful protest reveals the crimes of the Israeli government. Any act of violence by the innocent refugees would be utilised by the government as an excuse for their criminal behaviour towards African and refugees. A peaceful protest is an event in the history. A violent clash is just another clash among thousands of clashes occurring every day. You have justice on your side. We have justice on our side by standing at your side. This is the only power we have against their violence and racist politicians, but it is something they will never have. I will never use this page to promote any illegal act. I would like to encourage the refugees to continue with their LEGAL and legitimate just struggle against the detention, deportation and harassment of refugees in Israel. Sometimes the government tries to ban acts that are legal and legitimate and I would like to encourage all refugees not to fear the struggle for justice. I would like to invite everybody to join the protest on Tuesday, 1st of July, 19:00 in Habima, Tel Aviv, for solidarity with the all asylum seekers detained in camps and for refugee rights. The protest has a licence from the police. Please join!
