An important question this morning, emailed to us by a mother - TopicsExpress

An important question this morning, emailed to us by a mother runner who would like to know how to balance running and eating as a person who is eating-disorder recovered. She says: After struggling with anorexia for a decade, I now consider myself to be recovered and leading a normal healthy life. However, from time to time I find it hard to make sure I eat enough for the amount of running I do (I still have portion distortion and I think I will for years to come; its a slow process of gauging what your body needs rather than what you think it should have: horrible, old eating disorder patterns are hard to shake off). In general I catch myself in these moments in make a concerted effort to eat more than maybe I think I need to. So, shes wondering how other people handle these situations, and what advice or tips you have for a continued healthy, balanced life?
