An inquisitive young spiker caught on cam last week . The bush up until today has been extremely dry and trying to stalk through the rewarewa leaf litter near impossible not to mention the howling westerly we have had for the last 2 months ! . We managed to check out a clearing for a bit of sign and investigate who had been coming and going . Walking through the guts of the clearing we reached about 5-7 meters from the bush edge at the far end when we noticed a doe head down feeding right on the bush edge in plan veiw , she noticed us just as we happened to notice her and she vacated at a great rate . Unfortunately not enough time for a photo. Great to see non the less .
