An instructive reading on South Sudans politics, what had happened - TopicsExpress

An instructive reading on South Sudans politics, what had happened and why, the role of humanitarian intervention, and the future. (Wonderful journalism by Alex Perry.) After reading this am provoked to rethink the idea of building a new nation; appreciating how Eritrea managed to sustain so far (politically). One of my theories about Isayass repeated aggressive engagement with his neighbors has been that an external war is one way of consolidating an internal sense nationhood, which is very important for new nations. (Note that am not simplifying the difference between Eritrea and South Sudan.) It is not an easy take to build a nation/country as an enduring entity.
