An interest ive had stems from reading that Dr MLKing, Jr was planning on making a retreat with T. Merton, but was killed before realizing that intention. Ive thought it would be awesome to host such a spiritual roots retreat in honor of that quest to connect the dots between these movements for economic/racial equality and peacemaking...and in light of what we now know, environmental justice as well, in the spirit of the Canadian bishops prescient statement years ago that The cry of the earth and the cry of the poor are one. I mentioned this idea to Martin Sheen when we spoke after he received the Merton Center Award (Pgh). Martin would be another good person to reach out to with info about this retreat.
