An interesting experience Everyone can do it Even a shoe mender and polisher can do it I happened to get my shoe polished in the morning by a shoe mender who works near my residence. Interestingly he even took out the laces of the shoes, cleaned them first and applied 7 different liquids and polishes according to the different colors of the shoe while polishing it and he did it so excellently, perfectly and with such an artistic way that I really got overwhelmed by his sophistication and perfection and his loyalty and love towards his profession. He hails from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and I have always observed that my brothers from kpk have some extraordinary qualities such as doing the things with sense of responsibility, perfection, excellence, taking low charges and I have observed lots of times that they sometimes do a very trivial thing like mending a bag or shoe and polishing with such a mastery, sophistication and in an artistic way that you feel very delighted seeing them do it and it seems that they are willing to attain the maximum level of excellence and competency in that trivial affair whether it is mending a shoe or making a corn in salt and sand or may be an extremely sophisticated and sensitive job like the one done by our great national hero Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan and so on. Todays event basically reminded me of two prophetic traditions: عن شداد بن أوس أن النبي صلی الله عليه وسلم قال إن الله کتب الإحسان علی کل شي Sayyidina Shaddad ibn Aws reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Indeed Allah has decreed kindness (doing the things excellently, perfectly and sophistically) over every thing. عن عائشة أن رسول الله قال : إن الله عز و جل يحب إذا عمل أحدكم عملا أن يتقنه Hazrat Aisha Narrates That Allahs Apostle said: Indeed ALLAH loves that you attain excellence in all that you Endeavor My Mentor cum friend Dr Qaiser Shahzad sb once elaborated the first Hadith and connected it with all the sophistication, excellence and perfection mastered by the Muslim professionals in all the fields and occupations such as calligraphy, construction, medical, painting, mathematics, education, engineering and so on. He said that it seemed that everyone tried to practice the Hadith by attaining excellence, sophistication, esthetic sense and mastery in their respective field which resulted in their extraordinary contribution for the development of the society. Thanks a lot Dr. Qaiser Shahzad sb for opening a very unique and useful venue of knowledge for me. I have really benefitted a lot from your thought and have mentioned this aspect and related it with day to day affairs in my lectures and talks many times. Mending or polishing a shoe may seem to be a very trivial thing but if performed with excellence, sophistication and perfection it becomes an art and art and artist must be appreciated and lauded.
