An interesting perspective I received via PM from a couple of my friends this morning... Since they are both directly in the political know even more than I am as a relative outsider I thought Id pass their thoughts along to all my friends here... From Les and Jon; - Have you been picking up this anti-police / anti law and order agenda in the social media. A lot of it is being initiated with people who come from the right of the political spectrum Harper and the Conservatives need to be careful because one of their anchor policies pandering to their base is becoming toxic. The situation in St. Louis, the discover of a murdered teen age girl in Winnipeg, and Harper dismissal of the situation as not being a social problem are piling up against the law and order agenda. Add in a big annoyance with NDP/Katz inspired speed traps in Winnipeg and one ends up with a big problem emerging for the both the Conservatives and the NDP in this province. The next time MPI teams up with police to perform one of these blitzes on minor driving offenses, I can see the public exploding with outrage here in Manitoba. - I tend to agree with their observation and therefore, as a proud Liberal, see this as just another sign of CON and NDP governments being completely out of touch with the general public they were elected to serve... Good law enforcement is, of course, a good thing, but anything, and every time, that crosses the the line into harassment of the general public for the sole purpose of a money grab to fund a specific political agenda it is a very bad thing every time...
