An interesting perspective. first came across Eric X. Lis name from a post on a Muslim news site, wherein the blurb, there is a complain that Criticism of Democracy is okay, so long as its from a Chinese (as opposed to be a Muslim). But lets take off the goggles of anti-Islamophobia media (whose narratives I tend to dislike, and are actually counterproductive to the anti-Atlanticist cause). Mr. Li acknowledges the Chinese system since 1949 or even since Dengs reforms in the 70s has not been perfect, he acknowledges of the problem of the CPC in the present times. But unlike Francis Fukuyama (whom I know Li is taking jabs at in the beginning of the lecture), Eric Li does not present the Chinese model: The Represents, the Harmonious Society or the Scientific Development Perspective, as panaceas for the world, just as neoliberals and neoconservative present Liberal Democracy and Neoliberal capitalism. Lis more dead-on assessments is on the development of democracies in the developing world.
