An interesting thing happened this morning as we got ready for - TopicsExpress

An interesting thing happened this morning as we got ready for work and school. Everything was going well this morning. We were not just on time but we were going to be early. That would mean avoiding the post 8am crazy place known as the school drop off zone and instead get there during the pre-8am lack of other people time. I prefer that time. So. Very. Much. But as fate would have it, that was not to be our destiny this morning. Because as I was 2/3s of the way through brushing Olivias hair (At 7:45 my final act before we all donned our shoes and departed) my toddler Elias walked up to me and showed me his hands. He raised them up high so I could see them and twisted them back and forth in circles to better display them. I looked at his hands and thought to myself, Golly, that looks a lot like chunky peanut butter all over both of his hands. Where could he possibly have gotten chunky peanut butter from? Out loud I said, What does Elias have all over his hands? I then let go of Olivias hair, put the brush down on the table, and gripped both of Eliass wrists to bring his hands to my nose to better smell what the substance was. Im sure you all know where this is going by now. Yup, it wasnt chunky peanut butter at all. It was poop. A LOT of poop. Like a whole diaper (plus some) load of poop. Soft, creamy, mushy poop. The exact color of peanut butter btw. And seeing how Elias was wearing a onesie I knew he didnt reach down his diaper and pull it out. NOPE. This stuff came out down his right leg. So I hoisted him up and ran him upstairs. First stop was the bathroom, because we really needed soap and hot water to clean all the poop off his hands and wrists. Then it was on to the changing table where I stripped him down. Tristan was tasked with bringing me a plastic bag to contain the soiled garments and he worked smartly at it. The shorts were easy, it was the shirt that was slightly more difficult. Fortunately it unbuttoned down to the tip of his sternum so I was able to peel it down off him and avoid getting the chunky peanut butter all up in his hair. Then we had to clean his lower unit. And that was fun. Tristan came in handy again handing me wipe-after-wipe until the cleaning had been accomplished. Then we opened a new pack of wipes and re-cleaned his still stinky right leg. After he had been diapered and re-dressed (throw in a change for me too as it had gotten all over the crotch of my own shorts and on my Johnny Cash t-shirt as I had perched him on my knee when washing his hands in the bathroom sink) it was time to leave for school. At 8:05am So we made to school in time for the post 8am crazy time. And today it was so bad that I made a call to the school office asking if they could create a document detailing proper drop-off etiquette and procedures like the one my brother and sister-in-law were fortunate enough to have been given by my niece and nephews school. But thats another story for a different time.
