An odd cocoon in one of my aquariums that houses my hermaphroditic apple snails. You can see an apple snail behind this weird cocoon that is holding some sort of larvae that is undulating to create ripples of water to aid it in breathing. Im all the time growing some weird creature or other in my tanks. The apple snails are both male and female. They must mate to reproduce, but when two of them mate, they both exchange sperm to fertilize their eggs. Later they will both climb above water to lay a large pink cluster of eggs that will be covered in a hard material. When the eggs hatch, the babies will drop into the aquarium to begin their lives as more apple snails.
