An open letter to JK Rowling and other celebrity no voters. This - TopicsExpress

An open letter to JK Rowling and other celebrity no voters. This is primarily aimed for the attention of JK Rowling, the most high profile no voter in as much as she openly supported and bank-rolled (to the tune of one million pounds) the Better Together, UK/OK, No Thanks, PROJECT FEAR campaign, but also the others in high profile positions who chose to support this stance (Ewen McGregor, David Tennent, Neil Oliver, etc- to name but a few). Before the vote you where all vociferous on the benefits of staying in the (failed) union. You warned about the dangers of going it alone, that the only true course was better the devil you know. Why so quiet of late? Why,now the promises are being broken and sidelined, why dont we hear anything from you? Is it because of the fact that before the vote we where told in the vow that we would receive extra powers within a time agenda beginning on the 19th september which was broken FIVE hours after this promise was made? That the oil which, before the vote was running out is suddenly post Referendum, expected to last, at the very least, another 120 years? That the future of the NHS could only be assured by a no vote only to be told (again post Referendum) that the Labour party fear for its future and need help to preserve it? How about the Barnett Formula? Where you aware that Westminster has plans to scrap it plunging more people into low wage hell as their taxes are raised to make up the deficit? That spending is to be cut in Scotland adding even more misery to the most vulnerable in society as public funding is cut and public sector workers loose their jobs due to these cuts only to be replaced by private companies whos only reason to exist is to make money at the expense of quality of service? That the entire Central Belt and huge swathes of the Highlands have been sold off to the highest bidder for the right to Frack them? How will that effect the re-sale value of your Mansions? That child benefits are to be frozen at 1% per year, again affecting the poorest and most vulnerable in society? That the pension age is to raise to 70 despite Scotland having a lower life expectancy than anywhere else in these Islands? And talking of pensioners, did you know that the free bus pass and prescriptions that many pensioners rely on is now under threat? That benefits to those under 25 will be stopped under new plans? There are many more things I could highlight, like for example, Gordon Brown making HUGE promises at the 11th hour only to say after the Referendum please sign my petition to ensure the powers I lied about might be looked at in some far off distant, unspecified time, the allegations (so far unsubstantiated) of vote rigging , but Ill leave that for you to research in your own time. I would welcome your thoughts on this if you would care to take the time out from your busy schedules to do so. Thank you. Bob Cook
