An open letter to Mr. Akhilesh Yadav, Cheif Minister, U.P. Sir, I am one of the hundreds of students studying in GSVM Medical College, Kanpur persuing what is considered as one of the most prestigious and toughest courses of the world, which takes one of the most talented lot of students in its entrance, MBBS. After the incident that happened in the evening of 28 February 2014 in the campus of GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, I feel dreaded, tortured physically and mentally, lost all my spirit of serving humanity what is my utmost job, and find the hostel or rather the city to live in, UNSAFE. Your MLA Irfan Solanki, along with the support of SSP Yasashwi Yadav mass assaulted the students of a Medical Institute, lathi charged the teachers, destroyed the public property, ruined three of our boys hostels, our bikes, our belongings and worthless to mention books. They also beated the media persons covering the event. The police arrested 26 of our students and the HOD of Community Medicine. The SP MLA lodged an F.I.R. in the police station against 24 Medical Students stating that they tried to kill him, and are involved in terrorist activities, said they possess guns and blamed them for attempt to murder. He presented to the media which we all know shows nothing but reality (pun intended) that he received 6 stitches in head and his gunner as a result of assault from Medical students. Three days since the event, the medical students are still under police custody. No F.I.R. has been lodged against the MLA and the SSP despite the collective efforts of our guardians. We the students and all the guardian doctors of Kanpur are now on an indefinite strike for the justice we deserve. The four demands of our peaceful protest that consists of a meagre 2.8 lakh doctors all over India are as follows: 1. Immediate revocation of all charges against the arrested medical students and assurance for their safe transit from jail to medical campus. 2. Irfan Solanki should be arrested and F.I.R. should be lodged on attempted murder, abduction, illegal/unauthorized use of force, assault on doctors on duty and damage to Govt. property. 3. SSP Yasashvi Yadav should immediately be suspended from duty and F.I.R. should be lodged against him on above grounds. 4. There should be a judicial enquiry into the incidence at the level of a working judge. We havent heard from any of your spokesperson about what the SP government is going to do against this anarchy in Kanpur. Well, Mr.CM your MLA had six stitches on February 28, where do they go on 3 March. He heals faster than explained in any medical text we ever studied. We expect he is superhuman. Then how can a handicapped medical student and his friend hit him while he is indeed equipped with two gunmen along with him. What is your excuse to the charges put in F.I.R. against the medical students, all 24 of them? What is your excuse for beating a 60 year old professor? ONE OF OUR STUDENTS WAS THROWN FROM SECOND FLOOR, SUFFERED PELVIC FRACTURE, AND IS PARAKYSED NOW. What is your excuse for the police entered the college without the permission of the college authority? IS THIS TALIBAN??IS UP DIFFERENT FROM REST OF INDIA?? What is you excuse for no F.I.R. has not been lodged against the SP MLA and SSP? DONT WE DOCTORS HAVE HUMAN RIGHTS. THE POLICE TORTURED A 14 Year OLD KID, WHO HAPPENED TO BE A STUDENTS BROTHER AND WAS COINCIDENTALLY PRESENT IN HOSTEL. YOU DONT APPLY CHARGES TO RAPE ACCUSED CALL HIM MINOR, WHATS SO DIFFERENT WITH THIS 14YEAR OLD? YOU ASK US THAT DOCTORS SHOULD CALL OFF THE MOVEMENT SINCE ITS KILLING PEOPLE. SIR, ARENT WE PEOPLE, ARENT WE HUMANS. ARE WE IMMORTALS. WE COULD HAVE DIED OF THE ASSAULT, THE SHOTS, THE BEATING,.... WHO IS GOING TO ANSWER THAT. This movementnof ours is not against the people. Its for the people. We are also the public. THESE STUDENTS COULD BE ANYONE, FROM ANY WHERE IN THE COUNTRY. Doctors are Gods of earth, but sir we are MORTAL GODS.
