An other innocent accused in terror charge “I am shattered and devastated” Mother of terror accused Imran Ahmed Bangalore - Imran Ahmed did not know what lay in store for him when he voluntarily agreed to get exit stamped on his passport in Saudi Arabia by his sponsor. He reached Bangalore about 15 days ago. On the 28th of November the NIA arrested him as Accused No 22 in the terror conspiracy, from an apartment where he was staying with his mother. His mother Shakeela Akhtar was left alone to overcome the shock after his arrest. She says that she and the family is shattered and devastated by the allegation of her son’s involvement in the terror case. She insists that Imran Ahmed is innocent and has nothing to do with anything illegal. She said that My son has memorized the Quran and is a very pious person. He would not harm anyone. She says that she has full faith in the Judiciary and is certain that her son will be acquitted. She says that she is hoping that like Muthi ur Rahman the Journalist from Deccan Herald who was discharged without a charge sheet being filed. The NIA will after carrying out the investigation, will discharge her son and no charge sheet will be filed against him. Shakeela says that her son has never been financially stable. He first struggled to set up his practice in Bangalore after completing his BDS in 2003-04 Subsequently he got a job in the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia. He however quit the job within three months and joined a small marketing company in Saudi Arabia. He was not happy in the marketing job and therefore he was on the look out for a professional job. He finally got a job in a private clinic. Imran therefore requested his sponsor to relieve him from the marketing job so that he could join the private clinic. His sponsor did not agree to relieve him and insisted that he would make him exit Saudi Arabia. Imran Ahmed was completely unaware of the case against him and voluntarily agreed to exit to India. Imran Ahmed came to Bangalore about 15 days ago and was arrested on 28th Of November. The mother rubbishes reports that her son was using fake passport. She says that her son is totally innocent and the Courts will decide on it. She says it was impossible for her son to do any illegal activity since he was struggling to find a decent job. Imran Ahmed’s father Mumtaz Ahmed was an engineer in NGEF. Mumtaz Ahmed passed away in 2009. He was very keen that all his children were well qualified. The eldest son is an engineer in Qatar. The second son is also an engineer but is looking out for a job in Qatar. She says she is praying that there will be an impartial and fair investigation against her son and he will be discharged if nothing is found against him without forcing him to undergo a lengthy and frustrating trial.
