An outstanding, dedicated,single handed services of Dr.Imtiaz Ahmed working at DH Bandipore, residing at Amira Kadal,Srinagar that was provided at the time of peak of floods in civil line areas of Srinagar is worth for attention and praises . He was trapped in flood in his home on Sunday 7th September when flood ravaged Amira Kadal and everybody was in agony. Suddenly cries start of pain abdomen in vicinity at night when everyone feared to watch even outside Window. He could not bear his sufferings and by risking his life, through crossing verandas of adjacent houses he reached there and treated patient at risk of his life,a slip could have costed his life.Wherever he heard a suffering of sick ,and wherever possible he could reach by veranda or roofs , He did not bother for his life , reaches there with medicines and treated them. Hearing carefully complaints from far away patients Via people in neighborhoods he provided proper medical advice and medicine. This was continuously going on first three days. Suddenly, hearing listening and feelings of sick peoples of adjacent area he could not resist. He tied rope to his body and with the medicine in his hand ,risked his life by going through floods with and was drifted by running flood water twice and had narrow escape from death. NGOs from IDARA Dastageer sahib, Amira kadal extracted him out of water and reached on Amira kadal bridge.A ray of hope wad seen in desperate patients . Not looking for any special chair &table,a sophisticated clinic , or a high class organized camp, a well suited dressing for himself and shunning his status ,he started treating patients on flood spared corner of road for many days on the cart which was being used to sell fruits by street vendor ,in the flood spared Auto stand of Amira Kadal Chowk . He used torn nylon bag on which coal was used to inscribe medical camp for anxious flood ravaged sick people . All patients were treated free and all medicine, which had of its own, was given. He even provided medicine to operated patients in LD hospital. Thousands of patient both locals as well as non locals were treated freely with best available treatment provided. Dressings were done of wounded in thousands of injured in flood . Acute allergic reactions due to contaminated flood water were treated which could have been turned fatal. A hope Was given to COPD and diabetic patients whom he treated and provided emergency medicine in the civil lines and adjacent areas at the peak of flood .
