An unforgettable jazz entertainer that crossed over to the mainstream and still maintained his integrity Nat King Cole was inspired by Earl Fatha Hines radio broadcasts from the Grand Terrace Cafe. He formed a trio and in 1938 took to the air waves himself debuting on NBC radio and later scored a mainstream hit with Straighten Up and Fly Right followed by many others. Never completely abandoning his jazz roots, Nat Cole become a pop sensation while joining the ranks of the great singer/songwriters of the 20th Century.
