An unfortunate happened tonight. Leo and I were waiting in line - TopicsExpress

An unfortunate happened tonight. Leo and I were waiting in line for the north-bound train at Shaw Blvd Station. Two men were looking at our direction. It was 9PM and there were only a few people because it was a holiday and beyond peak hours. When we got on the train, several men forcefully pushed us in which was weird because even though the coach was almost full, there was enough space for everyone. I had a hunch that something wasnt right but brushed it off. After a minute, Leo asked me if his phone was with me. Realizing its been stolen, Leo tried to identify the culprit and ran after him who got off at the next station. He hesitated because he could he wrong. Anyway, I told him to let it go because they might be armed. So after almost two years of living in Manila, weve experienced the reality of how skillful these pickpockets are. Leo wore really tight jeans and was alert and knew that such incidents happen on a regular basis because he commutes daily. Nonetheless, it didnt stop them. Installing anti-theft software didnt help either as GPS could only locate the device if its turned on. He joked hed like to put C4 on his next device which would explode if in the hands of a stranger. In hindsight, it was such a loss not because the device was pricey (it wasnt, thankfully) but because it had all the contact information of all the people he had connected with for the past 10 years and ever since. We praise God for His protection nonetheless and a lesson we learned the hard way, that is, never buy an expensive phone if you live in Manila. :D
