An update for the many of you who have been praying and are concerned for our sister Terri. We so appreciate each of you. While this post will be a bit long, it will provide facts rather than some of the other comments that are being posted by non-family members. Stage 4 brain cancer in Terris case is now at 16 months. The tumor has grown from 3.7x3.3x3.3 on May 8, 2013 to 5.2x3.5x4.1 on May 15, 2014. Although a single MRI on March 20th showed a .4cm reduction, the reduction did not last. Terri took six weeks of radiation in June/July 2013 and took oral chemo until at least March 2014. After this time, we are not sure what medications Terri was taking although she was supposed to continue the oral chemo as prescribed by her oncologist at UTSW. Terri unexpectedly and unknown to her family got married on May 2, 2014. On May 15th, the oncologist after seeing the growing tumor, stopped the oral chemo and recommended intravenous chemo. The new husband said no more chemo; it was poison to her body, he said. At that time or maybe even before, Terri began seeing an Indian medicine woman from Oklahoma. [Vickie Carter in Seminole. A Doctor of Naturopathy. Facebook her and Google that stuff along with the Trinity College of Natural Health. Wikipedia Naturopathy.] Oh my gracious! There may have been some chemo once, maybe twice in the summer but mostly supplements, herbs and minerals from the medicine woman. Terris strong traditional medical training surprised everyone that she would experiment in non-traditional medicine. Many, many other actions occurred by the new husband that disconnected the family from Terri and threatened Terris well-being as well as her estate. A regular bi-monthly MRI, lab and oncologist appointment scheduled for August 6th was cancelled by the husband. No MRI has been done since May 15th. Because of this, legal action was sought and Jim was granted temporary guardianship of Terri for the primary purpose of medical evaluation; Jim had been serving as Terris medical power of attorney since 2004. A local CPA was appointed Terris temporary guardian for financial purposes. Unbelievably at the same time as the guardianship hearing was to occur on August 25th, Terri experienced some kind of medical issue that prevented her from being at the court hearing. After a trip to the ER, she was fine, maybe dehydrated, but experienced the same thing again two days later. She was taken to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs on August 28th to receive evaluation and treatment. Again, it appears it was mostly dehydration; nothing else showed other than an extensive brain tumor with swelling. Jim requested a transfer to UTSW in Dallas at 2:30pm on August 29th to be evaluated by her oncologist; we did get to St Paul about 11pm, August 30th. We continue to covet your prayers as the days ahead are expected to be difficult and unpleasant. We are anxious to know the current condition of the brain tumor and medical options available now. We have shared this because we desire for the facts to be out there. We are just as optimistic as anyone that Terri can live a long full life with the appropriate medical intervention. The alternative medicine by a voodoo doctor will not cure cancer. --- Jim and Jerry Wade. NOTE: any posts on this thread disrespectful, critical or negative will be removed.
